RV6 aircraft buying can be plane fun, or you might spend countless hours of building, trial and error manufacturing, jigs to build, tools to buy, and the list goes on when you build your own RV-6A can be fun. Years of postponed flight while you are building should be considered. Don't let anyone disuade you from building ... it's the most rewarding hobby in the world.
So, you want to start flying now? Today? Here is a sure way.
This 2 place RV-6A is pristine today … for sale today … ready for delivery today! For qualified buyers, you can fly it today!
The plane first flew in 2003, has gorgeous Imron paint with trim. From the day it took to the sky, it has had no squawks, no changes, flies straight, fast and true. This plane has a factory new Lycoming O-360 A1A with 63 hours since new. No leaks of any size sort or type.
Here are the equipment groups:

The plane has room to grow too … add specialty items like auto pilot or a storm scope … the MFD will take it and display the weather on the screen for you. A constant speed prop will give you improved climb performance but likely no more speed as the Sensenich prop is tuned to go. If it doesn’t go fast enough for you … have the prop re-pitched by experts who do it everyday.

Aircraft Engine and Propeller
Lycoming Engine and Sensenich Propeller
What a great combination ... RV-6A -- Lycoming -- Sensenich!
This RV-6A has a factory new engine ... Lycoming O-360 A1A, with <63>
The fixed pitch Sensenich Propeller (85" pitch) made for the RV-6A and 180 solid horsepower of the brand new Lycoming O-360 A1A gets you off the ground QUICK … less than 300’ (less than 500’ at max gross weight). All Van’s airplanes are quick to break the bonds but a light weight (1,100 lbs.) that is aerodynamically slick with a high powered engine will perform even better than published numbers.
Serious horse power + serious pitch (85") = SERIOUS PERFORMANCE.
Oil Cooler
The Niagra Development oil cooler model 20002A is easily capable of keeping the 180 hp Lycoming’s oil cool. Oil temperatures in the summer in Houston hover around 180 degrees Farenheit. Winter temperatures around 170dF. If that’s too cool for you, a smaller opening to the cooler will move the temp up for you … but why? Cool is good.
60 Ampere Alternator
A hefty 60 amp alternator supplies ample supply of energy to power everything in the panel, lights and more. This is the Vans ES14684 power unit.
Starter by Sky-Tec.
Flyweight 7.8 pounds of nothing but muscle to turn the 180 hp Lycoming. This is the "No Bendix - Electromechanical Solenoid"! Permanent magnet with a 10# weight savings over OEM and twice the spin speed to quickly start the Lycoming.
Engine Instruments, Analyzer & Support
Electronic International Instruments
Smart Engine Analyzer model SR-8A. Brings an understanding to the pilot of the engine environment. From the Aircraft Spruce catalog … “A truly automatic engine analyzer, the Smart Analyzer not only scans constantly but it also keeps track of vital engine temperatures and alerts you when a problem starts to occur. Most other analyzers only display temperatures, leaving the calculations up to the pilot. Smart Analyzer automatically scans through its channels, memorizing temperatures, calculating temperature spreads and determines an over/under temperature condition, alerting you the moment a problem occurs. It's like having a co-pilot watching over your engine while you take care of the flying.“
Oil Temperature and Pressure Gauge
“The OPT-1 is a dual instrument which features dual 90 degree graphic analog displays. Select to view pressure or temperature on the digital display using the toggle switch on the front panel.OTP-1 measure to 1 PSI and oil temperature to 1°F on the digital display. It incorporates an external pressure transducer and temperature probe that are mounted in the engine compartment. The instrument is backlit for night operation and operates on 12 or 24V system. Oil pressure range is 25-100 PSI and oil temp. range is 65°-240°F.”(Aircraft Spruce)
Volt / Ampere Meter
“The VA-1A is a FAA/PMA approved instrument which features a discharge warning light to act as an early warning device alerting you as soon as discharging begins. This is critical in giving the pilot as much time as possible to reduce electrical load and extend the life of the battery in flight. Also, by monitoring load currents to .1 amps the pilot can check important aircraft functions such as retracts, boost pumps, transmitter power, pilot heat, navigation lights, transponder, strobes, and any other electrical equipment.” “It is backlit for night operation and operates on 12 volts …”for this aircraft. (Aircraft Spruce)

Panel & Power Distribution
The panel
CNC cut instrument panel with an emphasis on ease of maintenance. Yes there is an easy way to get behind the instruments from …. in front of the panel. Made of 6061T6 0.060” with a rigid bottom stringer … that means this panel is not bent at the bottom! It has a 1/8” 2024 angle stringer for the bottom structural member. Sturdy is an understatement. The “8 pack” is removable for easy access to all wiring, tubing, plumbing … what ever.
Power Distribution
The Composite Design Power Panel has most breakers in one neat package.
And there's several instrument specific breakers for triple safety after the master and power panel.
One last word ... there's also a utility plug at the top right corner of the instrument panel just in case mama needs to power her 12v curling iron ... or spare GPS.
Navigation & Communications Equipment
The Bendix King KMD-150 Multi Function Display with GPS -- NAV
Are you flying without one now? The Bendix King KMD-150 (MFD with GPS) displays clearly and in bright sunlight. Look at the specifications from King and the pictures of it operational.

Combining Jeppesen® aeronautical data, cartographic mapping and GPS navigation information, the KMD 150 shows you everything from flight plans to waypoints and airports, NDBs, intersections, VORs, special-use airspace, rivers, roads, lakes, cities, railroad tracks and towers, terrain elevation and WX-500 Stormscope® data. Its database can also be customized, enabling you to view the specific information you want to see, at the map ranges you want to use. There’s even a handy de-clutter feature that, at the pilot’s option, removes detail as you zoom out, and remembers your preferences for future reference.”

This aircraft is populated with new instrumentation throughout. Here is a nice presentation of the flight instruments:
Airspeed indicator
Model IF UMA-16-310-241D from Vans marked with the speeds applicable to the RV-6A. White, green and yellow marked. It indicates both knots and miles per hour. Mostly it stays at near the top of the yellow right next to that little red mark!
RC Allen Electric attitude Indicator RCA 26.
Similar in appearance to A.I.D. RC Allen Model RCA 22-7, but the RCA 26 employs an electrically driven gyro rotor. FAA TSO-C4c
Vertical Card Compass PAI 700
The PAI 700 is a dry compass without the leaks, slow response and it has a full display of the all quadrants in their true relation to line of flight. And guess what? East is east and west is west on this little jewel. TSO’d.
Altimeter Model ALT20INF-3N
